JUNIOR CRICKET AT PETWORTH PARK CC

Welcome to the Junior Cricket section of Petworth Park Cricket Club. We're thrilled to offer a range of exciting programmes tailored for young enthusiasts aged 5 to 15. Whether your child is new to cricket or looking to advance their skills, we have something tailored for everyone.

Junior Indoor Winter Nets 2025 run from January to March 2025 on Wednesday evenings at Midhurst Rother College (Soft Ball Cricket 5.30pm and Hard Ball Cricket 6.30pm). To find out more get in touch at juniors@petworthparkcricket.org

Our Junior Cricket Outdoor Season Starts in May. We are thrilled to see our junior section growing each year, and 2025 promises to be another fantastic season. Here are the programmes we are running in 2025 for our young cricketers:

All Stars Cricket (Ages 5-8): Fridays, 5:30 PM – 6:15 PM
Kickstart your child's cricket journey with the ECB All Stars Cricket programme. Designed as a fun-filled introduction, this 8-week course offers:

  • Engaging activities to develop fundamental cricket skills.
  • A safe and friendly environment to make new friends.
  • A foundation for a lifelong love of physical activity and cricket.
Sessions start on Friday, 16th May 2025, in the beautiful surroundings of Petworth Park.

Dynamos Cricket (Ages 8-11): Fridays, 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM
For those eager to build upon their cricket basics, our Dynamos programme focuses on:

  • Enhancing fundamental skills through active and enjoyable drills.-
  • Age-appropriate match play opportunities.
  • Smooth progression towards hard ball cricket.
This 8-week programme also begins on Friday, 16th May 2025.

Dynamos Progression Opportunity – After the softball season ends, Dynamos ready to progress to hardball cricket will have the chance to continue for an additional 6 weeks, bridging the gap until the end of the junior hardball season.
These sessions provide a great environment for children of all abilities to develop their cricketing skills, make friends, and most importantly, have fun!

Junior Hard Ball Cricket (Ages 8-15): Fridays, 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM

  • Aimed at more experienced young players, these sessions provide:
  • Advanced coaching in hard ball cricket techniques.
  • A supportive environment to develop at their own pace.
  • Competitive match opportunities throughout the season.
The 16-week programme starts on Friday, 9th May 2025, running throughout the summer.

Junior League Cricket – 2025 Teams
We are excited to be entering five junior league teams this season:
U10 Mixed
U11 Mixed
U13 Mixed
U15 Mixed
U13 Girls (our first-ever girls' league team!)
These teams will compete in The Newbery Sussex Junior Cricket League, giving our young players plenty of match experience in a fun and supportive environment.
We can’t wait to see our junior teams out on the field, developing their skills, making friends, and most importantly—having fun!

Registration Event
We invite you to join us for an in-person registration event on Friday, 25th April 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the club. This is an excellent opportunity to:

  • Explore our facilities.
  • Meet our friendly coaching team.
  • Learn more about our programmes.

Friday Family Fun Nights
Friday evenings at Petworth Park Sports are all about family fun! While your child enjoys their cricket session, you can:

  • Relax at the pavilion bar, offering drinks, snacks, and hot food.
  • Enjoy various fun lawn sports available for members.
It's the perfect way to kickstart your weekend in a beautiful setting.

Get Involved!
We warmly encourage parents to participate in our club activities. Your support can make a significant difference. Here are some ways you can pitch in:

  • Assist during junior cricket sessions.
  • Manage teams on match days.
  • Help with registration and check-ins.
  • Support the pavilion bar operations.
  • Lend a hand with catering, like BBQs or kitchen duties.
No experience? No problem! Just bring your enthusiasm. Even if you can only help out once or twice during the season, we'd really appreciate it. If you're interested, drop us a line at juniors@petworthparkcricket.org.

Safeguarding
Your child's safety and well-being is our top priority. All our coaches are ECB qualified, DBS checked, and follow the ECB Safe Hands Safeguarding and Protecting Children Policy. Our Club Safeguarding Officer, Clare Wiggs, oversees these measures.
